Fund California fire departments to deploy engines before fires break out

If the horrors of October’s fires taught us anything, it’s that extreme weather and ferocious fires are no longer unprecedented or rare. Sadly, they are the new normal.

Rising temperatures, prolonged drought and high winds — all ingredients that make for increased risk of catastrophic fires — are going to be a part of our lives and communities for the foreseeable future. The firestorm that devastated our community last October, and the winter fires and mudslides in Southern California, won’t be the last disasters fueled by weather conditions and a warming planet.
