FDAC

About Us

Fire Fighter Spurred by the Watson Initiative to cut property taxes, the Fire Districts Association of California (FDAC) was formed in 1972. The organization, spearheaded by South Placer Fire District and Citrus Heights Fire District Chief Warren Desimone, became the first organization to represent the special interests of California Fire Protection Districts.

As a non-profit organization, FDAC’s primary function is to provide its members with programs, services, and classes to help the districts they serve and their personnel and representatives become more successful and effective.

An additional and critical function of the FDAC is to provide its members with representation and advocacy in California’s legislature. By concurrently fighting and refuting laws that negatively impact their districts and advocating, supporting, and introducing those laws that are to their district’s benefit, the FDAC is a powerful and constant voice in the complexities of California’s operations and legislation.

Vision

The Fire Districts Association of California is a unique and valued organization that serves the membership by remaining abreast of fire service trends, assessing legislative actions, monitoring current and preparing for future challenges in order to assure the highest level of emergency fire protection services are offered to the people that work, reside, and travel through the fire districts in California.

Mission

The Mission of the Fire Districts Association of California is to provide legislative advocacy, educational information, member services, and informational resources and to promote special districts that perform fire protection services.

Values

The organizational values of the Fire Districts Association of California are identified as:

  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Accountability
