URGENT ACTION NEEDED!

FDAC, CalChiefs and all of the members of the Disaster Readiness for SAFER Communities (D-RiSC) Coalition are asking for your fire district’s immediate support of our state budget request. D-RiSC has been working diligently over the past few months to ask for $100 million in the FY 18-19 State Budget for pre-positioning fire personnel and apparatus and to update the California mutual aid system.

The State Senate has recommended $25 million to fund pre-deployment of local government firefighters and equipment during times of extreme weather and elevated risk for wildfire and other disasters. While fire chiefs, firefighters and local governments appreciate the Senate's proposal, it is far short of the $100 million requested to effectively utilize pre-positioning as a proactive strategy to combat climate-caused disasters. In addition, no money has been proposed for modernizing Mutual Aid communications and dispatch technology.

Please take action NOW to call on lawmakers to support increased funding in the final 2018-19 State Budget, to support pre-positioning and improved communications in California's Mutual Aid System.

CONTACTING YOUR REPRESENTATIVES IS IMPORTANT AND EASY!

Below are links to sample letters for the Senate/Assembly and the Governor’s office. Please include your local representatives name and contact information on the letters. It is important that you reach out to your local Senate or Assemblymember, as they want to hear from their constituents. You can locate your legislative offices via the following link: http://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/

Please email your action letter or questions to FDAC Legislative Intern Brett Moore at bmoore@smithmooreassoc.com so we have record of our efforts.

Thank you for your continued support!
